As a new developer, Mads became stuck on an issue that he couldn’t push through, but found that by taking a break and gaining a new perspective, he was able to solve the challenge.

A career in IT is a life-long learning process. You are always evolving and developing.
What is the worst career advice you’ve ever received?
Not to build websites, because “everyone can make websites”
If you had to begin your career again in today’s world, what would you do?
Mads would narrow his focus and pick a subset that can be learned deeply, instead of jumping around and trying too many things at once.
What career objectives are you currently focusing on?
Building an audience is becoming more prominent in IT, which is Mads’ focus right now. It helps to grow the community and allows new perspectives.
What’s the number one non-technical skill that has helped you in your career so far?
Communication – it’s the key to building teams and forming ideas.
What do you do to keep your own career energized?
Twitter has helped Mads to theorise in public, as well as working on side projects.
What do you do in your spare time away from technology?
Spending time with family and going to the gym.
