Seth talks about the importance of choosing the right career in IT, and following the path towards the things you truly love. He also discusses why the great IT careers are built upon an attitude of gratitude.

Worst Career Moment
When working as a management consultant, Seth discovered that a manager above him had hired an SE and placed him in Seth’s team without consulting him first. When emailing the manager to complain indignantly, Seth accidentally sent the email to everyone in the company, which made things extraordinarily awkward.
Career Highlight
Seth got to be a part of the inner circle of a start-up during the financial setbacks of 2008, but through hard work and dedication, they still managed to grow the company quarter over quarter and take the company public on the NYSE in 2012.

The incredibly rapid change happening in the sector that is driving forward not just IT in general, but the world as a whole.

What first attracted you to a career in I.T.?
Programming and coding on early primitive devices, which Seth always found fascinating.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To always take the high road – always be professional.
What is the worst career advice you’ve ever received?
To lay low and fly under the radar in the workplace. The reverse is true.
If you had to begin your career again in today’s world, what would you do?
Seth would devote himself to more programming and in sharpening up his dev tools
What career objectives are you currently focusing on?
Seth is devoting himself to developing and growing his skill base and increase his potential.
What’s the number one non-technical skill that has helped you in your career so far?
Seth has found that his theatre degree has helped a lot. Being able to stand in front of people and “perform” has helped Seth to establish himself as a voice worth hearing.
What do you do to keep your own career energized?
Learning new things on his own time. Removing himself from his comfort zone.
What do you do in your spare time away from technology?
Yoga, staying in shape, bike-riding and gardening.
