Nicole Archambault is a web developer and educational technology entrepreneur. She creates online courses and coaches people who are teaching themselves how to code. Nicole taught herself to program in 2015 using Treehouse, making a career change to an industry that she loves.

2 Top Career Tips
1) Don’t be afraid to set up camp in an area that hasn’t been tried before. By doing so, we become the founder of new IT communities, which in turn leads to strong business and brand. Be the trailblazer! You’ll be surprised at how many others feel the same way as you.
2) There is a lot of emphasis put on computer science degrees. We mustn’t let the fact that we don’t have these educational degrees become a barrier between our hopes and ambitions in the IT industry.

Worst Career Moment
Nicole’s route into the industry was an unconventional one. This was never more manifested than at a career’s convention, where she assumed her self-built resumè, slanted more around experience than education, caused her to feel like an impostor.
Career Highlight
The creation and launch of Nicole’s first online course, ‘Thirty Days To Web Development’, which taught her many lessons, most notably to count your achievements as positive when they happen. Look for the wins.
The Future
Educational technology is an incredible industry to be a part of, mainly because the rise of technology has allowed for a more instant feedback loop from users, which in turn has fueled rapid growth and development within the sector, in all kinds of creative ways.

To follow our passions. By doing so, we find our ideal place in any career.

To NOT follow our passions!
If you had to begin your career again in today’s world, what would you do?
Nicole would remove the ego element that kept her from getting the help she really needed at the outset.
What career objectives are you currently focusing on?
Creating content, building the business and brand, and coaching.
What’s the number one non-technical skill that has helped you in your career so far?
Empathy, which Nicole values even more than communication skills. Being able to communicate with empathy is incredibly powerful.
What do you do to keep your own career energized?
Many of Nicole’s best decisions have been made through not planning too far ahead. There is an energizing component in controlled chaos.
What do you do in your spare time away from technology?
Video games are helpful, and hanging out virtually with friends are not just a source of fun, but learning!
