1) Always be a creator, not just a consumer. We should never feel as though we are there simply to take. Giving promotes growth and rapidly speeds our development.
2) Keep challenging yourself. Keep failing. A progress journal can show us how much we are developing in our fields. By teaching the things we learn, we gain mastery of the subjects we are learning.

In a moment of desperation, Boris made the leap to a company at which he was less happy. No matter where we are in our career, ensure that we are learning and being challenged. It’s important to make sure we are consistently growing.

The intersection between Boris’s job, and his flourishing career on Udemy is a great source of happiness. An unfortunate rejection at work was taken and transformed into a successful secondary source of income.
The Future
Experience doesn’t always count for success in IT. If we keep our knowledge base well-fed, then we have countless opportunities to shine and provide solutions. It’s challenging, but also very exciting. There’s always a chance to level the playing field.

What first attracted you to a career in I.T.?
The applicability of the skills to any domain or industry of interest. IT has a great flexibility in that regard.
What is the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Figure out the price of success and decide if you want to pay it.
What is the worst career advice you’ve ever received?
To feel as though you have to remain in an unhappy place, so that your CV doesn’t become cluttered. If you’re not happy or being challenged, move on and grow.
If you had to begin your career again in today’s world, what would you do?
Build more projects, fail more frequently, and be unafraid to fail.
What career objectives are you currently focusing on?
Independence is very attractive. The objective is to be completely self-dependent and have a stable line of incoming work.
What’s the number one non-technical skill that has helped you in your career so far?
Communication – to be able to bridge the gap between the technical and non-technical. It is the art of translating complex, technical ideas for those without the vocabulary.
What do you do to keep your own career energized?
Challenges keep us fresh. Always look for opportunities to step out of your comfort zone.
What do you do in your spare time away from technology?
Music is a huge part of relaxing, as are long walks and video games!
